How to make the first few days after hip replacement more comfortable:
These simple foam blocks will help you to get in and out of bed, turn comfortably to your non-repaired hip and let you rest on your side. By gently squeezing the two blocks you stabilize your pelvis and keep your femur in a neutral position. The blocks can be very helpful during transportation from the hospital for the same reasons.
The blocks are simple 6 by 12 by 14 inch foam rectangles. You can make them yourself or order them through this website.
When you start to do more walking be sure to get a pair of shoes that will help with shock absorption. Anything that will soften the heel strike will help.
